Self-Reflections

At week 1-3, I begin gathering everyone’s roles and responsibilities through a google docs file accessible to any group member. In the week 4-6, I mainly ask and inform people through direct messages to work on their tasks and help anyone who needs answers for their task or role.
As a group leader, my role is to initiate, lead and finalize the group project without any questions and problems. The research had already undergone since week 3 forward and was being carefully managed by the assigned research group leader. As per other team divisions like e-report and video team, I assign each division a team leader to have a more niche management in their part.
There was miscommunication and lack of coordination within the team, this included having others ask questions after being forwarded the information and group project details of their tasks and roles. Some people do not understand and were not aware of the google docs that includes all of the information needed to have their goal progress to final. This was no issue after later weeks where people did their tasks and had no more discussion in the general team except their own, so I keep a watch in all divisions through their group chat and allow their democratic decision-making to happen as I mainly observe and interfere when necessary.
In the final week, I learned that no matter what group you’re in, there will be obstacles that can delay your expectations such as people not keeping in touch with the timeline, finding the right people to do the roles, and group management for 20 people.

Right from the first day of the project, the group showed a good level of activity in determining our topic, although this was mainly driven by a few active members. We began by listing several possible ideas and then created a poll so that everyone in the group could vote on the topic they preferred. Based on the results of the poll, we initially selected the most voted option. However, we were unable to proceed with that topic because it had already been chosen by another group. As a result, we decided to move forward with our current topic, which focuses on human trafficking as a human rights issue, with the Epstein files used as a case study. We felt that this was an important issue that deserves more awareness and discussion.
From the beginning, I volunteered to work on the Wix e-report because I already had experience using the platform and believed that taking on this role could help reduce the workload for the rest of the team. Being responsible for the website meant that I had to stay in constant communication with the members working on the research and written sections so that the website design could match the content being produced.
One of the main challenges was coordinating communication with a group of twenty people. Waiting for responses or updates sometimes caused delays and stress, although this is a common difficulty in large group projects. Despite these challenges, the project helped me gain a deeper understanding of the issue beyond what is often portrayed on social media. Overall, the project was completed successfully, although better communication and clearer task coordination could have improved the process.

The course Falsafah dan Isu Semasa has provided me with an increased and deeper understanding of philosophy as being not just about abstract concepts, but also about how we think about real-world situations within our society. I learned from this course how philosophy pushes us to think critically and question assumptions, as well as to evaluate different perspectives prior to forming our own opinions. In the world of today, where incredibly fast amounts of information are accessible through social media and the internet, critical thinking has a very high level of importance because it is so easy for an individual to be easily manipulated by misinformation or bias.
Also, this course allowed me to reflect on the values and responsibilities individuals carry when dealing with current-day issues such as discrimination, inequality, and cultural differences. By studying philosophical concepts, I became more aware of the complexity of many of our social issues; therefore, I cannot judge them based solely on one perspective. Instead, I need to understand the background, context and the personal experiences of an individual before I am able to pass any sort of judgement about them or their actions. Given that Malaysia has multiple cultures, religions and beliefs living within it, it is vital to view things through this lens in order to be able to properly facilitate constructive dialogue and understanding.
Overall, this course has allowed me to become a more open-minded, thoughtful and responsible person in both how I view current societal issues and how I respond to current societal issues.

The main goal of this project in Falsafah dan Isu Semasa was to learn about philosophy and how philosophical ideas can be applied to real life. I learned during the project that philosophy isn't just about old philosophers or theories. It also helps us think more deeply about what we do, what we value, and the world around us. It makes you think critically and about yourself. I learned while working on the project that philosophy can help us think more critically and see things from other people's points of view. It also taught me how philosophical ideas can be connected to current problems, like technology, society, and how people act. This made the subject more interesting because it linked theory to real-life situations..
But there are also some things that could be better about the project. One of the hardest things I had to deal with was talking to other people in the group. We didn't always talk a lot, which made it hard for me to know how the project was going. There were times when I wasn't sure what had already been done and what still needed to be done. I think the project would have gone better if we had talked to each other more. For instance, it would have been helpful if we had a short meeting at the end of each week to talk about what we had done and what we needed to do next. This kind of regular communication could make the work together clearer and more organized.
In conclusion, this project taught me how important philosophy is and how it can be used in everyday life. It also taught me that good communication is very important when working in a group so that everyone understands their role and the work can move forward more smoothly.

Coming into this assignment I was not well versed in the events of the Jeffrey Epstein case. While writing the script for our video I learnt a lot about the human trafficking and distortion of justice that occurred. By researching the topic, I found out more about the far-reaching and sensitive impacts of the case and how it’s perceived by our society. Working on this project showed me the side of powerful and influential people that not many ever have an opportunity to witness, and it showed how influence can shape the narrative of a story and twist the truth.
However, this project also helped me become better at working with a team and improving my communication skills. I had to work with my groupmates for script writing, and it helped me work as a team and share ideas in a healthy manner. I feel that the part that I was the weakest in was communication as I have always struggled with working in a group and preferred to do things alone if possible. However, my groupmates were very welcoming and helped me every step of the way and I would have been able to complete it without them.
In conclusion, the assignment helped me gain a deeper understanding of the events of the Jeffrey Epstein case and the serious issues surrounding human trafficking and abuse of power. Additionally, the project contributed to my own personal development, particularly in teamwork and communication. I believe that the skills I have learnt while completing this assignment will help me in the future in academic and professional environments.

Researching the Jeffrey Epstein files case study has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of how complex and calculated human trafficking cases can be, especially when people with power are involved. Before researching this case study, I had a general awareness that human trafficking is an ongoing global issue. However, this study helped me realize that human trafficking is not only limited to developing countries or criminal gangs, but can also occur within elite social circles where wealth, influence and political connections may affect the pursuit of justice. One of the things I learnt from this case study that impacted me immensely is the experience of the victims and the long-term psychological trauma they endured. Many victims were recruited from vulnerable backgrounds and manipulated by people of power through grooming and financial incentives. Understanding these dynamics has made me realize that exploitation often attacks individuals who lack social and economic protection. It also highlights the importance of victim-centered approaches in legal proceedings, ensuring that survivors receive support while also seeking justice.|
Another important lesson I learnt from this case study is the role of transparency and the media in shaping public understanding. The release of the Epstein Files generated intense global debate because many influential individuals have been referenced in the files, but being mentioned in legal documents does not necessarily mean someone is guilty of a crime. This showcases the importance of critical thinking when consuming information, especially on social media where misinformation can spread like wildfire. This case also raises many important ethical questions about balancing public accountability with the privacy and dignity of victims. While transparency is necessary to maintain trust in the legal system, excessive disclosure of sensitive information can bring further harm and unnecessary attention to the victims/survivors.
In conclusion, this case study has broadened my perspective on human trafficking, power dynamics and the responsibility of institutions and society to protect vulnerable individuals. It reinforced the idea that justice must be pursued responsibly, ensuring accountability while safeguarding the rights and dignity of the victims.

Unpacking the Epstein Files alongside others changed everything I thought I knew about trafficking. At first unfamiliar with the details, I followed a trail backward - each step exposing patterns of damage built over years. The fact he stayed out of prison so easily pointed to flaws rooted far below the surface of policing. With every new piece came clarity: power often warps responsibility until it snaps under pressure. Money, linked repeatedly to walking away unharmed, kept appearing throughout what we examined.
Looking back, certain trends became visible - digital platforms often protect misconduct by leveraging powerful connections. Papers identified people tied to Epstein, including well-known figures now facing scrutiny; a few had held political office, while others ran large companies. Names like Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Bill Gates appeared again in news reports, alongside Prince Andrew and Les Wexner, due to past links. Still, the spotlight grew broader over time. Talk shifted to prominent individuals across the American political spectrum, hinting that tight-knit circles among the powerful quietly weaken public confidence.
When power steps in, balance often slips away, despite appearances. Fame - be it from wealth or influence - sometimes shields misconduct, as seen in the Epstein example. My view of headlines shifted once I dug further; relying on several accounts now seems steadier than trusting first impressions. Working alongside peers brought new understanding - not just tasks mattered, but attention to pain people carry.
When privilege steps in, fairness falters - still, more people now see justice as something separate from wealth or rank. Since human trafficking tends to linger close to powerful wrongdoing, uncovering each helps block what might come next. Where openness fades within groups, moral rules start to bend; clear policies along with leaders who act with integrity offer repair. How unfairness shows up shifted through this work, prompting responses rooted in honesty, balance, and care for those at risk.

Before working on this project, my understanding of the Jeffrey Epstein case and the issue of human trafficking was quite limited. I had heard about it before through news and social media, but I never fully realized how complex and serious the problem actually is. Through our research process, including reading articles, research papers, and analyzing information from different sources, I began to understand how power, wealth, and influence can sometimes affect justice and public perception. This made me realize that human trafficking is not only a criminal issue, but also a social and ethical problem that requires awareness and responsibility from society.
Another important lesson I learned from this project was the importance of teamwork. Since this was a group assignment, we had to divide tasks, communicate regularly, and support each other to ensure that the project could be completed on time. Through this experience, I learned that collaboration is very important in producing good quality work. Each member contributed different ideas and perspectives, which helped improve our final outcome. As a computer science student, I also found it interesting to apply analytical thinking when organizing information and presenting it clearly.
This project also made me reflect on the ethical responsibility of sharing information about sensitive topics. When discussing cases like this, it is important to remain respectful toward the victims and avoid spreading misinformation. I realized that education and awareness must always be balanced with empathy and responsibility.
Overall, this project helped me grow both academically and personally. It expanded my knowledge about social issues while also improving my research, communication, and teamwork skills.
Suggestions for Improvement
Although our project was successful, there are still some aspects that could be improved. For example, we could include more diverse sources such as academic journals or expert interviews to strengthen the credibility of our research. Additionally, our presentation could be improved by using more visual elements like infographics or charts to make the information easier for the audience to understand. Finally, better time management within the group would help us refine the final presentation and ensure that every section is explained more clearly. By making these improvements, future projects could become even more informative, engaging, and impactful.

Before starting this assignment, I already had some basic knowledge about Jeffrey Epstein. I knew that he had committed serious crimes, but my understanding was not very detailed. I was aware of the situation in general, but I did not fully understand the scale of what happened or how many people were involved. After doing more research for this assignment, I learned much more about the case and the systems around it. It helped me realize how people with a lot of wealth and power can sometimes avoid consequences for a long time. It also showed me how people from lower social classes can be more vulnerable to being taken advantage of by those who have more influence and money.
Through researching this topic, I began to understand how money and social status can sometimes help people hide the truth or delay justice. This can create an unfair system where powerful people are protected while others do not have the same opportunities or support. Learning about this made me think more critically about how society works and how important it is for justice systems to treat everyone equally, regardless of their wealth or status.
During this module, I also learned a lot about teamwork and leadership. I was the research team leader for this project, which meant that I helped guide the group and organize the research tasks. Although I feel that I was not always the most effective leader because I struggled to balance this project with my other assignments, the experience still taught me valuable skills. I learned how to communicate with my teammates, manage responsibilities, and support others in completing their work. I was also lucky to work with a team of capable and responsible people who helped each other and worked well together.
Overall, this project helped me understand how important justice is, especially when powerful and wealthy people are involved. Sometimes these individuals have the resources to protect themselves or clear their names, which can make it harder for justice to happen. This assignment reminded me that fairness and accountability are important in society, and that systems should work to protect people rather than allow power and wealth to hide wrongdoing.

After completing this assignment, I have acquired more insight into the gravity and intricacy of the crime of global human trafficking. To be precise, my knowledge about the crime of human trafficking was extremely low. To be more precise, I always thought that the crime of human trafficking was an underground crime that took the form of kidnapping. The case of Epstein has taught me that the crime of human trafficking is more intricate and more frightening because it sometimes occurs openly and involves immense wealth and power.
From this assignment, I have realized that human trafficking is not just a crime against humanity, but it is also a social crime that affects many people in the world. Many young girls who are trafficked are lured by the promise of money and trust. This also led me to realize that young people in society can easily become targets for criminals if they are not aware of the dangers that they might face. Therefore, it is important to increase public awareness and education about the dangers of crime in society.
From the study of the case of human trafficking, I also realized the suffering that the victims of crime have to endure. Many victims of human trafficking face emotional and mental stress. This led me to realize that while it is important to punish criminals for their wrongdoings in society, it is also important to emphasize the importance of protecting and providing counseling to the victims of crime.
From a moral and ethics point of view, this case also made me ponder more on the significance of human values and social responsibilities. As the subject of Falsafah dan Isu Semasa clearly indicates, philosophy is not only about theories but also helps us ponder on real-life social issues and evaluate whether human activities are in line with morality. Human trafficking not only violates laws and regulations but also goes against morality in a serious manner. Human beings should be treated equally and not used as a tool or means of achieving personal gains.
The assignment helped me realize the seriousness of human trafficking cases and their impacts on human beings and society. It also indicates the need for a more effective legal system and law enforcement agencies, as well as increased awareness among people regarding these issues. As a student, I strongly believe that it is essential to understand social issues and develop the right values in life in order to build a more moral and responsible society.

Before starting this assignment, I did not have much knowledge about the Jeffrey Epstein case or the broader ethical issues surrounding it. Through researching and preparing the script for our video, I was able to learn more about the serious problems of human trafficking, abuse of power, and the failures within systems meant to deliver justice. The case showed how powerful individuals can influence institutions and how this can affect victims and public perception. This helped me understand the importance of ethics, accountability, and critical thinking when examining real-world issues.
Working on this project also allowed me to see how complex moral and social issues can be interpreted from different philosophical perspectives. It encouraged me to think more deeply about fairness, responsibility, and the role society plays in addressing injustice. By discussing these ideas with my group members, I gained a better appreciation of how philosophical concepts connect to real events and how they can help us evaluate actions and decisions more critically.
Another important part of this assignment was the teamwork involved. I had to collaborate with my group members to plan the script, organize our ideas, and divide the tasks. In the beginning, I found communication slightly challenging because I usually prefer working independently. However, through the process I became more comfortable sharing ideas and listening to different opinions. My groupmates were supportive and cooperative, which made the collaboration smoother and helped us complete the project successfully.
Overall, this assignment helped me develop both academically and personally. I gained a deeper understanding of ethical issues and how philosophical thinking can be applied to real situations. At the same time, I improved my teamwork and communication skills, which are important for both academic and professional environments. This experience has encouraged me to be more open to collaboration and to approach complex topics with a more critical and reflective mindset.

When completing the Real Issues, Real World project, at the beginning the project was smooth until week three. Everyone was getting used to their roles within the project and the requirements of the template. Overall, the start was marked by good energy and organization.
After the week; when all the three teams(Research, E-Report and Video) were made, communication between the different teams was difficult. Although each group completed the tasks that were given to them. There was also a lack of sharing of information between teams. But the work that each team created during this time was appreciated.
A big part of the team was the most helpful tool that became apparent during this project was the democratic decision making chosen. When someone needed to make some decisions, everyone discussed about it, and came to a decision. That would be best suitable for the entire group. The shared apps also helped a lot. Using apps such as WhatsApp and Google Drive made it easy for everyone to find any piece of necessary information. For future projects, it would if help the leader to posts and the summarizes each of the decisions made by each group.
Having such a big team does not really mean that it will always work better together all the time. With 20 team members, it is super easy for anyone to miscommunicate with one other and work inefficiently. However, issues like these can very much be avoided, by implementing proper updates between each team and providing each team with proper report in times and progress tracker for each team and the whole task.
As one of the members of the Video editing group, overall, I had a good experience working with the others in this group.

Our group spent a lot of time brainstorming before deciding to focus on the release of the “Epstein Files” and their connection to human trafficking. While researching for this topic I realised the true severity of human trafficking. It helped me understand that human trafficking can involve more than just one person. In fact, it can involve a group of very powerful and influential individuals. This case of Jeffrey Epstein was just that, powerful men taking advantage of vulnerable individuals.
While working on the introduction I realised how complex this topic really is and how important it is to clearly present this which was really challenging. This is because the Epstein Files included some very big names which include Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Elon Musk etc. and thus this case became even more controversial. Such big names also cause misinformations to start so I had to make sure my sources were reliable and had correct information. Finally, I had to make sure that I present this accurate information with the sensitivity it deserves.
This was the first project where I really had to research in depth. It really improved both my understanding of this situation as well as my writing skills. I also learned that powerful people can be involved in such cases which may result in the victims never finding justice. Working on this introduction helped me understand the importance of presenting sensitive information responsibly while still informing readers about an important social issue. Overall, this process increased my awareness of human trafficking and how complicated these cases can be.

I am in the research group for this project and my job was to research for the finding and discussions part of the paper. I feel like I did my job to the best of my ability, finished everything on the date that we were supposed to finish the research.
Some difficulties I found was organising people into roles where they felt comfortable. I also noticed that a lot of us in the same group had a different idea of what to do when it came to this project. It took a decent amount of communication to be able to align our ideals. I felt some stress as our group wasn’t the most punctual, but in the end we made it work and that is what matters.
If I had to make a list of what can be improved next time. I would say choosing a more competent leader, including more discussion, and having people be more active in the group chat. I hope that I am able to keep these points in mind for group projects in the future that I will do.
Overall, I felt it was interesting to do research on the Epstein Files. It is such big news these days, looking deeper into the research really made me realise how disgusting those people were. People that had the power to change the world and they decided to use their abilities for such disgusting crimes. It really made me question the world and consider my own actions in the future.

This assignment was very interesting to me because I had very little knowledge about this entire situation, I only roughly knew about the crimes but was shocked to find out how much worse it actually was. I was responsible for listing in detail about the research objectives. My main task was to look at how the new laws helped make these secret court documents public. I wanted to understand how the government changed its rules so that people could finally see what was happening “behind the scenes”.
This task forced me to look past the false misleading headlines to avoid writing the wrong information down leading to researching the wrong topics. I had to think about the struggle between the public wanting the truth and the victims needing their privacy protected. I was shocked to see the difference in how major news sites like CNN handled the case while people on social media were often sharing a lot of rumors and misinformation. This project taught me how hard it is to get the full story when there is so much confusion and fake news going around.
I also was quite disappointed to find out how these elites or other powerful people can sometimes ignore the law or just get away with certain crimes. Overall this project helped me understand how a society can find peace and balance after a scandal. It made me realize that just releasing the files is not enough; we also have to think about how that information affects everyone’s well-being, especially the victims who want privacy. Overall, this project really opened my eyes to how power works and why we need to try to force transparency on the powerful people or any other huge underground hidden activities . It was a very interesting subject to research considering how recent these activities were.

As I dealt with the research methodology section, alongside the analysis of the survey responses throughout this project, I found myself becoming much more attuned and sensitive to the gravity of human trafficking. Initially, I viewed the topic as a major news event, but working on the project made me more meticulous in how I approached the evidence.
I noticed a disappointing trend whenever I discussed our research topic: people often treated it lightly, almost like a conspiracy theory or a piece of celebrity gossip rather than a massive human rights violation. This personal observation is actually what led me to design the specific survey question regarding the entertainment aspect of the case. I wanted to see if others felt the same way I did that political drama was overshadowing the victim's suffering. Seeing that 53.1% of respondents agreed that the case is treated as a form of gossip confirmed my fears. It made me realize that I have a responsibility to maintain the seriousness and dignity of the topic, and I must treat the case with the weight it deserves. Otherwise, it’s not fair to the victims. I also learnt how to stand in the viewpoint of people from various backgrounds to come up with questions such as how their community perceives crimes related to sexual exploitation, or how religious factors can impact these issues.
The most challenging part about the project was coming up with questions that get me both the depth and sufficiency of resources to work with. I wanted the responses to accurately reflect the perspective of the public regarding the case, and that is only possible if the questions are set diligently. I knew better questions produce better responses. So building the survey required the most brainwork and time.
Overall, this project has taught me to be more intentional with the information I consume and to always look for the ethical reality beneath the media headlines.

For my part of the assignment, I was responsible for researching the philosophy of Sejahtera. Through this research, I learned that Sejahtera is more than just a concept of well-being; it represents a balanced and harmonious way of life that includes physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual aspects. The philosophy emphasizes the importance of living in harmony with oneself, society, and the environment.
While completing this task, I improved my research and information-gathering skills. I had to read different sources and understand the key principles of Sejahtera before summarizing them clearly for the assignment. This process helped me develop a deeper understanding of how holistic well-being is important not only for individuals but also for building a healthy and sustainable community.
Working on this section also helped me appreciate the importance of values such as balance, respect, and responsibility in daily life. It made me reflect on how these ideas can be applied to my own lifestyle, especially in managing my studies, health, and relationships with others. Overall, researching the philosophy of Sejahtera was a meaningful experience that helped me understand the concept of holistic well-being and its relevance in modern society.

As I came into this assignment I only had the base level knowledge of the Jefferey Epstein case however while working on the project, particularly doing the voice over for the video team, I began feeling the emotions much more about the human trafficking that occurred. Recording the narration made me ponder much more deeply on seriousness of the situation as speaking the events out loud made me realize how sensitive and impactful the case truly is.While working with the video team and preparing for the voice over, I discovered the far spread and sensitivity of the case and how society views it.It also displayed to me the side, powerful and influential people have that not many get the chance to witness, and how influence can shape the narrative of a story and tend to curtail the truth. This project helped me improve my ability to work with a team while developing my communication skills. I had to work alongside my group mates throughout the project which allowed me to collaborate as part of a team and give my ideas in a healthy manner. I feel that the area that the team lacked in was structure as till around week 3 the roles and responsibilities of the group were still vaguely explained. Despite this I could say that my group mates were very kind and welcoming throughout the process and helped me every step of the way, easing the process for me.
In conclusion the assignment aided me in gaining a deeper understanding of the events regarding the Jefferey Epstein case and the great issues related to human trafficking and abused power.Furthermore, the project contributed to my personal development, specially in the fields of teamwork and communication .I truly believe that the skills I honed and enhanced upon while completing this assignment will help me in future academic and professional environments.

Our project was on the Jeffrey Epstein case. Working on it helped me gain a deeper understanding of the human trafficking issue and the controversies surrounding this case. After reading the research documents, I learned how complex and sensitive this topic is, especially since it involves several influential and powerful individuals. The case highlighted how power, wealth, and political connections can influence the legal system and public perception of justice. It showed how underprivileged and vulnerable individuals are often targeted and manipulated in trafficking networks. Going through the research materials and survey findings made me realise how public perception about topics can be heavily influenced by social media, misinformation, and political bias. It also helped me understand the importance of balancing transparency with the protection of victims’ privacy. I was in the video production part of the project, and my main responsibility was to record the survey results and ensure that the information presented in the video was consistent with the research report and survey findings. I checked the scripts used in the video to make sure the research findings were accurately presented in the video. Additionally, I contributed to organizing the video production process by dividing roles among the team members. Each member was assigned specific responsibilities such as script writing, screen recording, survey results, voiceover narration, and video editing to ensure the work was completed efficiently. Overall, this project helped me gain valuable experience in teamwork and communication and helped me understand the complexity and seriousness of human trafficking and the controversies surrounding the Epstein Files.

The work on the Jeffrey Epstein project was an eye-opening and very thought-provoking experience to me. My understanding of human trafficking prior to delving into the research was generalization of the issue, which I had never fully understood before with its complexity, sensitivity, and far-reaching impacts of such cases. By examining research papers and interview results, I am now very conscious of the fact that power, wealth, and social influence have the potential to distort justice and perception by society, and that in many cases, the most vulnerable people are vulnerable to exploitation and manipulation. The most significant point that caught my attention was that the disadvantaged victims that are already viewed as marginalized in society can be strategically targeted and muted in trafficking networks, which means that legal responsibility and social assistance are urgently needed. Planning the roles and duties with the team members also assisted me in sharpening my skills of working within the team and communicating because I have learned that teamwork can be used to make work more effective and to make the overall quality of the work stronger. In addition to all the technical side of the project, this project made me reflect on the ethics of publishing sensitive content and the obligation we have to not only educate people on the matter but ensure that victims remain unidentified. All in all, this experience did not only enhance my knowledge about human trafficking and the Epstein case but also allowed me to develop as a communicator, collaborator, and responsible witness to social issues and, therefore, made me more aware of the society structures that enable such injustices to take place.
